Falmouth Tap Upgrade

Why Are We Doing This Project?

With growth and demand for electricity in the Upper Cape, this project will address both transmission and distribution needs, and provide reliable energy to the area. Upgrades include converting the existing switching station into a new substation with a 115/23 kV transformer and reconnecting four 115 kV overhead transmission lines to the improved facility.

This project is part of our Electric Sector Modernization Plan (ESMP), a comprehensive 10-year plan to support a statewide initiative to modernize the grid, support Massachusetts’ clean energy goals and expand the capacity of the electrical infrastructure.

Where Is The Work Being Done?

Upgrades to the Falmouth Tap Station will occur on our property at the existing switching station on Sam Turner Road in Falmouth, Massachusetts.

To support the connections to the substation, some work will also occur in the transmission corridor adjacent to the substation.
