Energy company alerts customers of additional assistance available for energy bills

MANCHESTER, N.H. (Feb. 1, 2022) – Eversource is encouraging customers to take advantage of additional energy assistance funds available to help pay energy bills through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program. In recognition of National Energy Assistance Day, the energy company is urging customers to take advantage of this expanded program which not only helps customers pay their energy bills, but also provides weatherization funds to help make their home more energy efficient and comfortable during the winter.

“There is more energy assistance funding available for our customers than ever before and we want to make sure those who need help are aware of the many programs they can take advantage of, especially now, during these cold winter months,” said Eversource Vice President of Customer Operations Jess Cain. “Customers who’ve never needed help before may even qualify for these programs. In addition to the expanded federal assistance customers in New Hampshire can receive through the Fuel Assistance Program, they can also benefit from enrolling in an Eversource payment plan, which will not only arrange affordable monthly payments for them, but also protect them from service disconnection.”

State and federal assistance

• Customers can get help to lower or pay heating bills with Fuel Assistance through their local Community Action Agency. Call 2-1-1 to find your local agency.
• The New Hampshire Emergency Rental Assistance Program covers past-due and future rent payments, utilities and heating costs, and other housing-related costs such as internet. Customers can learn more or apply online through their local Community Action Agency or call 2-1-1 for more information.
• Customers that meet certain income guidelines may qualify for a discount on their monthly electric bill through the New Hampshire Electric Assistance Program. For eligibility guidelines, please visit Eversource.com.
• Customers that don’t qualify for federally funded assistance but are experiencing a temporary crisis may qualify for assistance from Neighbor Helping Neighbor at NHNfund.org.

Eversource Payment Plans

• Payment Plans are available to all customers to pay their past-due balance over a period of time. Any customer enrolled in a Payment Plan who is current with their payment terms cannot have their service disconnected.
