Carver to Kingston Reliability Project

Why Are We Doing This Project?

This upgrade is one of a group of projects designed to improve the reliability of the electric system serving southeastern Massachusetts, both today and in the future.

Where Is This Work Being Done?

The proposed new line would be constructed between our Carver Substation and our Kingston Substation.

The preferred solution runs approximately 8 miles within a right of way (power line corridor), passing through portions of Carver, Plympton and Kingston.

Construction Updates

We are committed to keeping neighbors, businesses and community members informed on project activities during construction.

This work is not expected to interrupt electric service to homes or businesses.

Siting Review

To construct and operate the proposed transmission line, Eversource must file a petition with the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities (DPU) for approval. The petition filing is part of the regulatory review process, as defined by Massachusetts state statutes.

On May 6, 2022, we received approval from the DPU to construct the Carver to Kingston Reliability Project. See the DPU 20-67 Final Order.

    Community Outreach

We're committed to engaging city officials, residents, businesses, community groups and other stakeholders about project activities through municipal briefings, mailings, virtual meetings and door-to-door outreach.

We will continue these outreach efforts as the proposed project proceeds through the siting process and into construction.

    Have Questions?

Keeping the lines of communication open is an important part of our work in your community.
