Rates Bill help

Energy company hosting additional in-person assistance events across the state

MANCHESTER, N.H. (August 1, 2025) – As the summer heat stretches on, customers are seeing higher energy bills due to increased usage before multiple August rate changes take effect. Eversource is continuing to connect with customers to help them manage their usage and cost. The energy company is hosting multiple in-person assistance events across the state to meet one-on-one with customers and go over the various options available to them—including financial assistance, flexible payment plans, and energy efficiency programs—which can make a difference on their monthly bill.

“Electricity isn’t a want, it’s a need, and we understand how crucial it is to everyone’s daily life – which is why we hope any customer struggling with their energy bill will reach out to us so we can help,” said Eversource Executive Vice President of Customer Experience and Energy Strategy Penni Conner. “We have many tools available that can have a real impact in lowering energy usage and costs, and we know that not every customer feels comfortable having those discussions over the phone. That’s why we’re holding these bill help events in communities across the state to make that in-person connection. Our knowledgeable representatives can go through your bill with you and the options available, and that can result in an action plan that leads to long-term energy affordability.”

The following in-person bill help events are free to attend and Eversource will be scheduling additional events in more communities in the coming weeks. Customers can visit Eversource.com for a current list of events that will be updated as more are scheduled, as well as to watch a webinar on managing summer electric usage and the resources available to help.

In addition to the typical summer usage increase that drives up customer bills, multiple rate changes are also taking effect at the beginning of August. Following a thorough, year-long rate review, the New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission (PUC) approved changes to Eversource’s distribution rate, which covers costs to maintain, repair, and strengthen the electric system that directly benefits customers through improved reliability. In compliance with last week’s PUC order, the energy company today submitted a filing that includes estimated total bill impacts representing 3.58%, or $4.84, for a typical residential customer using 600 kWh per month compared to their July bill. Eversource is still evaluating several aspects of the PUC’s order and the impact to customer bills may adjust following clarifications in the coming weeks.

The state and region also saw energy supply prices rise due to current market conditions, regardless of supplier, and the electricity Eversource purchases on behalf of customers with no markup or profit to the company – known as Default Service – was no exception. When combining adjustments from the supply rate change and the distribution rate review, a typical residential customer using 600 kWh per month can expect to see a total bill increase of approximately $18.45, compared to their July bill. While all Eversource customers will see the changes in the delivery portion of their bill, close to half of all Eversource residential customers in New Hampshire receive their energy supply through a community power program or an alternative supplier and are not impacted by the energy supply rate change.

Help is available for customers who need it
