Lineworkers from CT, MA & NH head to Virginia

MANCHESTER, New Hampshire (Sept. 28, 2024) – With more than three million customers without power following the powerful impact of Hurricane Helene, dozens of Eversource crews are heading down south to assist fellow energy companies with power restoration efforts.  Approximately 40 line crews from each of the three states the energy company serves – Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire – along with 20 support personnel are packing up their gear and trucks to make the trip to Virginia to support crews from Appalachian Power.

“This is how mutual aid works, this is what utilities do after a devastating storm – we show up for each other in times of need and I’m proud of our employees who’ve stepped up and they’ll work tirelessly to get power back for the people impacted by this powerful hurricane.” said Eversource Chairman, CEO and President, Joe Nolan.  “There have been many times we’ve had to bring in resources from other utilities around the country to support our communities in our states after a devastating storm and now it’s our turn to help our fellow utility companies to our south, while keeping the appropriate number of crews here at home to address any local issues that may arise.”

Using the industry's Mutual Aid Network, many energy companies impacted by Hurricane Helene have reached out to sister utilities from across the nation for extra workers and resources. Eversource is a longstanding member of this network that collaborates to help restore power as quickly and safely as possible following devastating storms and other emergencies.  The energy company is sending one line crew from each work center across the three states to equally balance the number of resources remaining at home. Crews will be departing their respective states Sunday, September 29^th at approximately 6 a.m.
