Eversource’s rank also improved significantly to 17th overall on this year’s list from 40th last year, reflecting the strides the company has made in executing its strategic commitment to sustainability throughout its operations.

With a high demand for skilled utility workers across the state, Eversource is partnering with Housatonic Community College and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local Unions 420 and 457 to prepare the next generation of electrical lineworkers in Connecticut. The Lineworker Certificate Program provides students valuable training in the electric utility industry and the opportunity to progress into Eversource’s paid apprenticeship program.

Hundreds of Eversource line and tree crews are working to restore power as the nor’easter moves through Connecticut delivering heavy snow, rain and wind causing damage and power outages primarily in Litchfield County. Crews are responding to emergency situations and blocked roads while assessing damage and restoring power to customers impacted by the storm when weather conditions safely allow. Lineworkers from as far away as Indiana, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee and Texas are working alongside Eversource crews and as of 4 p.m. have restored power to more than 12,800 customers since the storm began. Approximately 14,000 Eversource customers in Connecticut remain without power as a result of the severe storm.

With a powerful nor’easter expected to hit New England Monday night through Wednesday, Eversource is closely monitoring the weather forecast and is ready for the heavy, wet snow and strong winds that are expected to impact Connecticut. Eversource also brought in additional out-of-state crews to assist with restoring power to customers, if needed.

This year, the energy company is investing $74 million in tree management as part of a continuing goal to balance the need for electric reliability with the natural beauty that communities value.

With a massive team of line and tree crews working around the clock alongside hundreds of out-of-state utility workers, Eversource has restored power to more than 201,000 customers despite freezing temperatures and hazardous winds following the pre-Christmas rain and windstorm. Restoration work in all 149 communities that the energy company serves in Connecticut is now substantially complete, meaning 99% of customers in that community impacted by the storm have their power back. More than 1,100 crews have been working and are focused on the remaining scattered outages across the state. Eversource representatives are also working with customers still without power, providing updates on the restoration work needed to rectify their outage.
