Energy company has restored power to more than 97,000 customers since the storm began last night

MANCHESTER, N.H. (March 2, 2021) – Hundreds of Eversource line, tree and service workers are making significant progress on around-the-clock restoration efforts as strong winds continue across the state this morning. The energy company has restored power to more than 97,000 customers since the storm began last night, including nearly 60,000 customers in fewer than five minutes using smart switches to isolate outages and reroute power from a back-up source. As of 10:30 a.m., 18,787 customers remain without power.

Main Street Amherst“Consistent, strong winds with gusts up to 55 miles per hour have been roaring across the state since the storm began last night, bringing down tree limbs and causing significant damage to the electric system,” said Eversource NH President Joe Purington. “Working through the night, our crews made good progress and have restored power to more than 97,000 customers while operating under our COVID-19 pandemic plan and battling the bitter cold and persistent winds. The potential for strong winds to cause additional outages will continue through the day, and we’ll continue to shift resources to the hardest-hit areas as our dedicated employees work around-the-clock until every customer has their power back.”

With strong winds remaining in the forecast for most of Tuesday, additional outages remain possible throughout the day. The energy company continues to caution customers to always stay clear of downed wires and to report them immediately to 9-1-1.
