How to Apply for Financial Hardship
See if you qualify for Financial Hardship status and other assistance programs in Connecticut
If you receive a public assistance benefit your electric or gas service may be protected from shutoff from November 1 through May 1 through Winter Protection.
If you don’t receive a public assistance benefit and your household income is at or below 60% of the State Median, you may provide proof of income to see if you qualify.
Submit Your Documents
You must confirm receipt of a public assistance benefit for at least one person in your household or provide proof of income for all adults over 18 years.
You may submit your documents securely in several ways:
- Contact your local Community Action Agency. Your local agency can also help you apply for other assistance, including the Connecticut Energy Assistance Program (CEAP).
- Sign in to your account to upload your documents.
- Send them via U.S.P.S. mail at Eversource, Attn: Credit Dept., P.O. Box 270, Hartford, CT 06141.
- Submit documents via fax at 866-438-6476.
