What Is Winter Bill Relief in Massachusetts?
We share Governor Healey’s focus on energy affordability and are working every day to keep costs as low as possible while maintaining safe, reliable service.
We understand that managing higher energy bills alongside other rising expenses has been challenging.
After working collaboratively with the Healey Administration, our regulator and other utilities in Massachusetts, we are implementing winter bill relief for residential customers to help reduce bills during the coldest months of the year.
These reductions will be applied automatically, and you do not need to take any action.
Both the winter rate reduction and Winter Bill Stabilization adjustments are designed to reduce bills during peak heating months. The amount will be recovered on your bill gradually during lower-usage, off-peak summer months.
For Your Electric Bill
As part of ongoing efforts to reduce energy bill impacts, the Healey-Driscoll Administration is providing $180 million in funding to help reduce your electric bills this winter.
For usage from February 1 through March 31, if approved by the DPU, you will receive a 25% reduction on your electric bills. This reduction will be reflected under Current Charges for Electricity on your bill.
Although the 25% is not its own line item, we reduced certain rate components to achieve this reduction. It may appear between February and April, depending on your billing cycle. Individual bill impacts depend on usage.
