Eversource updates customers with local restoration estimates as crews make significant progress restoring power
Feb 25, 2026
Energy company restores power to more than 295,000 customers; most customers will be back on before Friday evening
BOSTON, Mass. (Feb. 25, 2026) – Eversource’s army of more than 2,000 crews and resources, including hundreds of out-of-state utility workers, continue to make strong progress restoring power to customers across Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and other hard-hit areas in eastern Massachusetts following the widespread damage caused by this week’s historic blizzard. As of 3:15 p.m., the energy company has restored power to more than 295,000 customers thanks to the around-the-clock work of its massive contingent of crews and the use of automated technology. As crews continue to work non-stop to assess damage to the electric system and make repairs, approximately 135,100 customers remain without power.
The energy company has provided town-by-town estimated restoration times today that indicate when customers can expect restoration activities in specific communities to be substantially complete, with most restored before then. Customers can find the updated list of restoration times by community on the company’s website here. Based on the magnitude of damage along with the significant amount of crews working across the impacted areas, some customers may receive changes to their specific estimated time of restoration as work crews are assigned to make repairs and begin work at their location. Some restorations – particularly those difficult-to-access locations on snow-laden, narrowed roads in the hardest-hit communities that require the most complex repairs and impact small numbers of customers – will last until Friday.

Crews face widespread damage while working to restore power in Falmouth.
“Our dedicated field crews – alongside the hundreds of outside resources here to help – are doing a tremendous job restoring power to customers and responding to community safety priorities even as they continue to face challenging work and travel conditions, with more snow falling today and some roads still impassable or narrowed from this week’s blizzard,” said Eversource President of Massachusetts Electric Operations Doug Foley. “While our crews and damage assessors are reporting extensive damage caused by downed trees and tree limbs on the electric system, we are making significant progress with repairs while coordinating closely with our communities and public safety officials to support critical facilities like hospitals and schools impacted by the storm. We know how difficult it is to be without power for any length of time, especially when it’s this cold, and we’re grateful to our customers and the community leaders we’ve worked with for their coordination, patience, and understanding. Our massive workforce is relentless in their determination to restore power for all customers, and we will not rest until the job is done.”
Eversource’s damage assessment from the ground and skies is ongoing today after the combination of hurricane-force winds and heavy, wet snow from the blizzard brought down trees and limbs onto power lines and electric equipment, causing widespread damage to the electric system in eastern Massachusetts, especially in coastal communities. Even as snow removal has proven to be a significant issue for crews in the field, the energy company has responded to more than 1,290 public safety calls and remains in close coordination with local officials to address community priorities such as clearing blocked roads made impassable by storm debris. Eversource continues to communicate regularly with customers as well as its municipal and state partners to provide critical information and updates as the restoration effort progresses.
The energy company urges any customers who are without power and using a generator to be sure it’s running outdoors and located well away from their home or business. Eversource also reminds customers to stay clear of downed wires – and keep pets away – and report them immediately to 9-1-1. Customers should also use extreme caution during storm cleanup as downed power lines may be hidden by the deep snow on the ground.
