Eversource on track to have most customers restored by Friday night as massive force of utility crews continue working relentlessly
Feb 26, 2026
Energy company committed to achieving town-level restoration estimates as service is restored to more than 426,000 customers
BOSTON, Mass. (Feb. 26, 2026) – As Eversource’s battalion of more than 2,500 utility crews, other personnel and resources makes significant progress restoring power to customers across Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and other areas in southeastern Massachusetts that experienced widespread damage from this week’s historic blizzard, the energy company is laser-focused on achieving the town-level estimated times of restoration provided yesterday to the hardest-hit communities. As of 2:45 p.m., the energy company has restored power to more than 426,000 customers and expects restoration to the nearly 43,500 customers still without power to be substantially complete by tomorrow at 11:59 p.m – with the vast majority restored before that time.
“Even in the face of harsh conditions and long hours, our dedicated employees and out-of-state crews continue to give their all for our customers and are making great progress restoring power as quickly as safety allows,” said Eversource President of Massachusetts Electric Operations Doug Foley. “Since we announced our town-level estimated times of restoration yesterday, our work to restore power in several hard-hit communities like Mashpee, Edgartown and Rochester has reached substantial completion, which means that power has been restored to 99% of customers in those towns. We feel an incredible sense of urgency to get this job done for our customers and are strongly focused on safely fulfilling our restoration commitments to our communities by tonight and the end of the day tomorrow.”

“Additional crews have been arriving today from Rhode Island after completing restoration there to support our massive restoration effort here,” Foley continued. “While we continue making great progress toward completing this critical work and achieving our estimated time of restoration, it’s important to note that for a very small number of customers – particularly those in difficult-to-access locations that require the most complex, labor-intensive repairs – restoration may continue past that time. We know how frustrating it is for our customers who are still without power, and we want them to know our massive contingent of crews is working urgently and tirelessly to make the necessary repairs that will bring them back online. We won’t stop until the job is done.”

Ground and aerial inspections of Eversource’s infrastructure remain ongoing today as crews continue to assess the widespread damage from the hurricane-force winds and heavy, wet snow that brought down trees and limbs onto the electric system in eastern Massachusetts. Since the storm began, the energy company has responded to more than 1,580 public safety calls, and its community liaisons remain in constant contact with municipal leaders about the progress of the restoration and remaining local priorities such as clearing blocked roads and supporting critical facilities. Eversource is also providing regular storm response updates to its state partners, and the energy company is proactively communicating with customers who remain without power to ensure they have the latest information about the work being done to restore their outage, as individual estimated restoration times may change as crews are assigned to the location and begin repairs.
Eversource urges any customers who are without power and using a generator to be sure it’s running outdoors and located well away from their home or business. The energy company also reminds customers to stay clear of downed wires – and keep pets away – and report them immediately to 9-1-1. Customers should continue to use extreme caution during storm cleanup as downed power lines may be hidden by the deep snow on the ground.
