Storm safety emergency response power restoration storm response estimated time of restoration

99% of customers restored statewide as crews wrap up final repairs in hardest-hit Cape Cod communities

BOSTON, Mass. (February 27, 2026) – Eversource has substantially completed power restoration following Monday’s historic nor’easter – before the previously established global estimated restoration time of 11:59 p.m. on Friday – with crews focused today on restoring service to the remaining customers affected by the storm. As of 6 p.m., fewer than 800 customers were without power statewide, and restoration has been substantially completed. In many communities, power was restored ahead of schedule, despite the severity of the storm and the challenging conditions crews faced in the field.

Substantial completion means that 99 percent of customers have been restored to power. Crews will continue working around the clock until all customers are restored. A small number of remaining outages involve complex or difficult repairs, hard-to-access locations or situations requiring customer-owned electrical equipment to be repaired by a licensed electrician before service can be safely restored.

“Our crews worked through blocked roads, deep snow and buried equipment to restore service safely, during extremely difficult conditions.” said Doug Foley, President of Electric Operations for Eversource. “This was a complex, long-duration storm that tested every part of our operations, and I’m incredibly proud of the skill, dedication and teamwork our employees and contractors showed throughout the responds. We’re also grateful to our municipal partners for their collaboration and customers for their patience as we responded to this historic storm safely and methodically.”

Crews also completed thousands of individual repair jobs, ranging from downed wires and damaged transformers to complex infrastructure repairs in hard-to-reach locations, all while working in demanding and challenging conditions.

Since the beginning of the storm, Eversource crews responded to hundreds of damage locations, addressed more than 175 broken utility poles, and repaired or replaced dozens of miles of downed or damaged electric lines.  Crews also substantially completed response to more than 1,690 public safety priority issues identified by communities.
