As of 3 p.m., Eversource has restored power to more than 24,000 customers since the storm began. As warmer weather arrives in Connecticut and customers start cranking up the air conditioner to beat the heat, a new lower Standard Service supply rate was filed today with Connecticut’s Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) that would go into effect July 1. The new Standard Service rate for residential customers receiving energy supply through Eversource would change from the current 11.19 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) to 9.75 cents per kWh starting July 1. For the typical residential customer using 700 kWh per month, that’s a decrease of approximately $10, or 5%, on their total bill.
