Running, Volunteering or Cheering - Eversource Employees Excited for Hartford Marathon
Oct 8, 2025
BERLIN, Conn. (October 8, 2025) – Whether their goal is to cross the finish line, encourage runners to get there or congratulate them when they do, approximately 400 Eversource employees are gearing up for race day – to run or volunteer. Among the employees running in one of the Hartford Marathon races on Saturday will be Eversource Senior Accountant Gabriele Stritch along with three members of her family who will tackle the charity 5K together. It’s not the first time for Stritch and her boys – Kevin and Tyler – but this year her husband Jim will be lacing up his sneakers to hit the pavement with them, making it a family affair.
“Having my boys by my side on race day has always been a great support system, and now having my husband join us makes it even more special,” said Stritch. “I feel fortunate that I’m physically able to run and while I’m running, I often think of my family and friends who aren’t able to due to health reasons.”
The Berlin family will be among thousands of runners from across the country and beyond taking on one of the marathon races this weekend – something the Stritchs look forward to all year.
“I love the anticipation right before the starting gun goes off, you can feel the energy in the air! The camaraderie and support of the runners and all the folks cheering us on really helps to keep you going,” added Stritch.
This is the 12th year Eversource has been the title sponsor of the Hartford Marathon. In addition to the almost 300 Eversource runners, roughly 125 energy company employees will be volunteering at the marathon - handing out water on the course, awarding medals at the finish line or cheering on the runners along the way.
“We’re incredibly proud to be part of Connecticut’s premier event that brings together over 10,000 runners, thousands of volunteers and spectators, and has raised millions of dollars for local non-profit organizations and generated more than $220 million in economic impact to the greater Hartford economy,” said Eversource Energy Foundation President Theresa Hopkins-Staten. “At Eversource we’re committed to making a difference in the communities we serve and being the title sponsor of the Hartford Marathon is just one example of how we live out that mission. Hundreds of our employees will be running or volunteering on Saturday because supporting the places where we live and work isn’t just part of our business – it’s part of who we are.”
Eversource Hartford Marathon races kick off near Bushnell Park in Hartford on Saturday, October 11 at 8 a.m.
