snowstorm storm response power restoration

Crews restored power to more than 24,000 customers since start of storm; customers reminded to stay clear of downed power lines and report outages

BERLIN, Conn. (Feb. 23, 2026) – Eversource’s army of line, tree and service crews in the field and system operators behind the scenes are working nonstop to restore power to customers impacted by the blizzard. Despite difficult travel and work conditions, crews are responding to emergency situations and blocked roads while assessing damage and restoring power to customers impacted by the storm as weather conditions safely allow. As of 3 p.m., Eversource has restored power to more than 24,000 customers since the storm began. Approximately 8,700 customers in Connecticut remain without power as a result of the blizzard and crews will stay on the job until service is restored to all affected customers.

“While it’s been extremely challenging for our crews to get to some damage locations to make repairs and restore power due to the significant snowfall, they have been making progress, while also focusing on community priorities like clearing blocked roads and in many situations our remote operators working behind the scenes have been able to reroute power to bring service back for customers,” said Eversource President of Connecticut Electric Operations Steve Sullivan. “Even with all of the challenges this storm presents, our crews continue to work as quickly and safely as possible and our entire Eversource team is committed to staying on the job around-the-clock until every customer has their power back on.”

Eversource reminds customers to always stay clear of downed wires – including keeping pets away – and report them immediately to 9–1–1 and to report any outage online, or by calling 800-286-2000. The energy company also reminds customers who are without power and using a generator to be sure the generator is located well away from their home or business and that the transfer switch is working properly. Customers should also be cautious when doing their own storm cleanup – when moving or cutting tree limbs, look for any wires that may be entangled in debris or buried under the snow.
