Our Commitment to Fighting Food Insecurity

We understand that thriving communities begin with meeting basic needs — and food is at the heart of it all.

Why It Matters

Across every corner of our service territory, families are facing food insecurity.

We believe no one should have to choose between paying essential bills and putting food on the table. That’s why we’re committed to supporting local organizations that provide essential nourishment to those who need it most.

2025 Community Impact

How We Help

At the Nashua Soup Kitchen in New Hampshire, employee volunteers sort and package food for the holiday season.

From small-town pantries to statewide food banks, we work with partners who know their communities best. Local farms grow and glean seasonal produce. Food banks facilitate large-scale donations and distribution. Pantries and soup kitchens provide groceries and meals directly to families.

There is a place to turn for food in every town. These organizations rely on committed volunteers and modest budgets — and they need all of us to meet the growing need.

Our approach is local, layered and hands-on. We support the full food ecosystem — from farms to food banks to pantries to soup kitchens — through a combination of grants and volunteer power.

Funding that fills the gaps

We provide financial support to community partners through the Eversource Foundation so they can:

  • Purchase food at lower costs than retail
  • Fill gaps in inventory with culturally appropriate and nutritious items
  • Expand their reach to meet growing demand

Volunteers who make it happen

Our employees roll up their sleeves to help nonprofits fulfill their missions by:

  • Stocking shelves
  • Sorting and bagging groceries
  • Gleaning fresh produce from local farms
  • Cooking and serving meals
  • Ensuring quality control

Employees help harvest over 220 pounds of produce for local food pantries, and clear vines and weeds for the next planting season at the Groundwork Lawrence Costello Farm in Massachusetts.
