Home Battery Storage System Incentives
Receive an up-front incentive and lower carbon emissions by enrolling your home battery storage system in demand response.
Home Battery Benefits
Home batteries can help you store clean energy generated by a home solar system or simply provide backup energy in case you need it.
We offer an up-front incentive to help offset the cost of installing a home battery system.
To receive it, you must install an eligible battery system using an approved manufacture, and you must enroll that system in our demand response program. Funding is limited and provided by the New Hampshire Clean Energy Fund.
Incentive Amounts
The incentive amount you will receive is based on the capacity of your battery. For each eligible kWh you will receive $230, up to a maximum of $3,000.
This incentive will be sent in the form of a check once we have confirmation that your battery has received permission to operate from our interconnection group and has been accepted into the Demand Response program.
You must have purchased a qualifying battery after October 1, 2022, to receive this incentive and you are required to participate in Demand Response events for a minimum of three years. There are no annual performance payments for this program.
Qualified Battery Models
In order to qualify for the enrollment incentive, your battery system must be from an approved manufacturer:
Enphase
Eligible models:
- IQ Battery 3 and 3T
- IQ Battery 10, 10C and 10T
- IQ Battery 5P
If you plan to pair an Enphase battery system with solar, the solar system must be single-phase with an Enphase inverter.
More information is available on Enphase's program resources page.
FranklinWH
Eligible models:
- aPower X
- aPower 2
Any solar system can be paired with a FranklinWH battery system.
More information is available on FranklinWH's program resources page.
Demand response events
Approximately 40 demand response events will occur June through September between 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. During the events, your battery will be discharged by the manufacturer to a level no lower than 20% of capacity. If there is an extreme weather event in the forecast we will not draw energy from your battery.
See last season's event calendar to learn what to expect in a typical demand response season.
Enroll Your Already Installed and Interconnected Battery
If you already own an eligible battery purchased after October 2022 that is fully installed, online and has permission to operate you may still be able to receive qualifying upfront incentives.
Purchasing a New Battery
You'll start by selecting and purchasing an eligible battery. We recommend contacting an installer to work with them throughout this process.
Enphase Installers
FranklinWH Installers
Your installer or manufacturer must also apply for your battery's reservation of funds.
Then apply for demand response
Once your battery is fully installed, online, and has permission to operate, you will need to apply for the demand response program through your manufacturer's app, and participate in three seasons (June through September) of demand response.
Once your battery has been accepted into the Demand Response program, your funds will be released in the form of a check within four weeks.
