Additional crews arriving from Massachusetts as energy company provides estimated restoration times

MANCHESTER, N.H. (December 24, 2022) – With the support of utility workers from as far away as Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, North Carolina, Virginia and Canada, more than 600 Eversource line, tree and service crews are working to make repairs and restore power. As of 2:15 p.m., approximately 35,000 Eversource customers in New Hampshire remain without power – and the energy company anticipates completing restoration for the majority of those customers by 10:00 p.m. tonight, with estimated restoration times for the approximately 10,000 customers expected to be remaining without power communicated to customers via their preferred communication channel and available on the company’s outage map. Eversource crews and remote system operators have restored power to more than 267,000 customers since the storm began yesterday, including more than 27,000 overnight last night and more than 30,000 since this morning, and will continue working as quickly as safely possible until restoration is fully complete, as well as with the support of additional crews arriving from Eversource’s operations in Massachusetts.

“With the support of outside crews from Texas to Canada, our dedicated employees are working urgently to clear damage, make repairs and restore power to our customers – who we know are growing increasingly concerned with the bitter cold and the important gatherings with friends and family taking place this weekend,” said Eversource President of Electric Operations in New Hampshire Doug Foley. “We remain focused on working with our community partners and public safety officials to support their critical needs, and with the support of additional crews from Massachusetts arriving today, our massive restoration effort will not cease until every customer has power.”

The whipping winds from yesterday’s storm brought down trees and tree limbs that caused significant damage to the electric system across the state, with outages going from around 30,000 to more than 96,000 in the late afternoon and early evening hours following a second wave of winds that hit the central and eastern areas of the state particularly hard. The significant damage from the storm included nearly 200 blocked roads and more than 80 broken utility poles across the state.
