BOSTON, Mass. (Jan. 31, 2022) – After-around-the clock work by more than 1,700 crews in extreme weather conditions, Eversource successfully completed all town-by-town restorations ahead of schedule. Throughout the course of the storm the energy company restored power to more than 300,000 customers, including some who lost power more than once.

Lineworkers2“On behalf of the entire Eversource team, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our customers for weathering the storm with us—especially through the frigid temperatures that this powerful nor'easter brought to the commonwealth,” said Eversource President and CEO Joe Nolan. “I also want to thank all our state and local partners, including the fire, police and town officials who supported our team as they worked to make our communities safe. And of course, I want to share my appreciation and admiration for the thousands of Eversource and out-of-state crews who braved brutal conditions to restore more than 300,000 of our customers. Their tireless work to be there for our communities was truly exceptional.”

“We strategically prepositioned crews and resources across areas of the state where we anticipated the biggest impacts from this nor’easter and were able to begin restoration efforts immediately when it was safe to do so,” said Eversource Vice President for Electric Field Operations Bill Ritchie. “We executed an aggressive power restoration plan with a massive mobilization, including crews from as far away as Michigan, Florida, and Southern California that we secured through mutual aid agreements, to substantially complete all town restorations by Sunday night, ahead of schedule.”

As storm cleanup continues, Eversource reminds customers to be aware of any weakened tree limbs that could fall and to always stay clear of downed wires and report them immediately to 9-1-1. The energy company also reminds natural gas customers to carefully remove any snow or ice that accumulates around vents, gas meters, or any other outdoor piping – using a broom or by hand because a shovel can damage the meter.
