Eversource Tree Work Underway in Rocky Hill

May 10, 2022

Work scheduled across community will help reduce power outages

BERLIN, Conn. (May 10, 2022) – As part of its ongoing efforts to reduce tree-related power outages, Eversource is trimming and removing trees that threaten electric reliability in communities around the state. In Rocky Hill, the energy company is pruning trees near electric lines along nearly 25 miles of town roads.

“A consistent tree trimming program helps to improve day-to-day reliability during all types of weather. As a result, we continue to see fewer power outages where this work has been done,” said Eversource Manager of Vegetation Management in Connecticut Sean Redding. “While we all love our trees, they can have a devastating effect on the electric system, especially during a storm and that’s why this work is so vital.”

Tree work along town roads is underway and is expected to be complete by the end of June. Work is taking place on the Silas Deane Highway from Parsonage Street to Elm Street, Orchard Street from Parsonage Street to Elm Street, Elm Street from I-91 to Bailey Road, Brook Street from Kensington Lane to Main Street, Brook Street from Kensington Lane to Cromwell Avenue, Main Street from Brook Street to the Cromwell town line, Cromwell Avenue from Brook Street to the Cromwell town line, Old Main Street from the Wethersfield town line to Glastonbury Avenue, Sutton Road from Gaylord Drive to Old Main Street, and Dividend Road from Pratt Street to Oak Hill Road.

Also, on Bailey, Elm Ridge, Pleasant Valley, Riverview, Sawmill, Southbrook, Tollgate, Valley Brook and Wright roads; Garden, Parsonage, Pratt and Washington streets; Cambridge, Colonial, Courtney and Mountain View drives; Terry and Webster lanes; Matteson and Textbook avenues; Stones Throw Court; Garden Way and Wells Road.

Asplundh Tree Expert representatives working on behalf of Eversource are going door to door to distribute information and collect permission slips for the work to be done. All contractors carry proper identification and will never seek to enter a private residence. As a reminder, there is no cost to the property owner for any of this work.

Eversource has been closely coordinating with Rocky Hill Tree Warden Craig Bowman. Residents with questions about the roadside work can contact the energy company at (800) 286-2000.

In addition, Eversource reminds customers that homeowners are responsible for tree maintenance on their own property, including keeping branches away from the lower-voltage service wires connecting their homes and businesses to the main utility lines on the street.  Eversource strongly recommends contacting a professional tree service to perform this work.
