Eversource tree work to improve electric reliability in Glastonbury
May 15, 2025
Work scheduled to help reduce power outages
BERLIN, Conn. (May 15, 2025) – As part of its ongoing efforts to reduce tree-related power outages, Eversource is addressing trees that threaten electric reliability in communities across the state. In Glastonbury this year, the energy company’s vegetation management team will be performing tree work along approximately six miles of electric lines, which helps to ensure safe, reliable service for the greatest number of customers.
“Trees continue to be the number one cause of outages in Connecticut, especially during storms, which is why identifying hazard trees and trimming or removing them before they become a problem is so vital,” said Eversource Manager of Vegetation Management Jenna Turner. “Our robust and thoughtful vegetation management program both improves electric reliability during all types of weather and enhances public safety, and we always prioritize collaboration and communication with our customers and local tree wardens as we conduct this critical work.”
Crews will begin tree work in Glastonbury within the next few weeks and continue through late summer. The work will be done along Minnechaug Drive, Manchester, Mountain, Neipsec, and Woodhaven Roads, and Line and Strickland Streets.
The energy company is closely coordinating its plan with community leaders and communicating with property owners to explain details of the work being done and gain permission from all abutting owners where work is necessary. As a reminder, all contractors carry proper identification, will never ask to enter a private residence, and there is no cost to the property owner for this work.
Residents with questions about the roadside work can contact Eversource arborist Jesse Fedak (860-267-3806; jesse.fedak@eversource.com.)
In addition, the energy company reminds customers that homeowners are responsible for tree maintenance on their own property, including keeping branches away from the lower-voltage service wires connecting their homes and businesses to the main utility lines on the street. Eversource strongly recommends contacting a professional tree service to perform this work. For details on the company’s comprehensive vegetation management program, please visit Eversource.com.
