Employee Volunteerism

Providing a better quality of life in the neighborhoods where we live and work.

Our employees are allowed two workdays a year to volunteer at company-sponsored events.

Whether it's for larger organizations like the United Way and Special Olympics, or working at food pantries, we recognize that partnerships with charitable organizations complement our mission to deliver reliable energy and superior customer service.

More than 5,000 employees and their families volunteered over 27,000 hours at company-sponsored events, both in person and virtually, throughout the service territory in 2022.

Employee Giving

Being a leading partner in the communities we serve starts with our employees.

Along with volunteering, employees show commitment to our communities by donating to their own favorite charities and by serving on boards.

Our employee giving programs support the time, talents and philanthropy of current and former Eversource employees. Eversource made $591,000 in contributions to charities on behalf of our employees and retirees in 2022.

  • Matching Grants - encourages employee-directed giving by matching employee donations to eligible organizations
  • Dollars For Doers - provides financial support to a community group where an employee is actively and regularly involved on their own time
  • Pledge Partners - matches pledged funds for events where employees participate (e.g., walk-a-thons and races) to support non-profit agencies

Eversource, our employees and retirees contributed $1.4 million to the United Way in 2022 to support wide-ranging initiatives and causes that contribute to the wellbeing of our communities.

Employee Spotlight

Barry Lashley, director of electric operations, appreciates the experience and opportunities he has had while growing his career at Eversource — including volunteering. He has been a dedicated volunteer for years at Habitat for Humanity, Connecticut Food Bank, St. Elizabeth House and more.
Theresa Latson has been with Eversource for more than 25 years and she loves to roll up her sleeves to help during the holidays. She's been showing up first thing in the morning at the Salvation Army Christmas Castle in Boston for the last seven years to make the holiday wishes of those in need come true.
Erica Menard has been with Eversource since 2003 and, after starting as a team captain in her office building, she has risen to New Hampshire Campaign Chair for the tri-state United Way Campaign. Eversource is the largest donation base in New Hampshire with Granite United Way, making a difference for citizens statewide.
