Employee Volunteerism

Providing a better quality of life in the neighborhoods where we live and work.

Our employees are encouraged to use two workdays a year to volunteer at company-sponsored events that support nonprofit organizations.

Whether it's for larger organizations like the United Way and Special Olympics, or working at food pantries, we recognize that partnerships with charitable organizations complement our mission to deliver reliable energy and superior customer service.

More than 6,000 employees and their families volunteered over 31,000 hours at company-sponsored events, both in person and virtually, throughout the service territory in 2023.

Employee Giving

Being a leading partner in the communities we serve starts with our employees.

They not only join Team Eversource in support of our partners, but are also active in giving back in their own communities. They volunteer, serve on boards and contribute financially to organizations that are important to them.

Our employee giving programs support the time, talent and philanthropy of current and retired employees. In 2023, more than $647,000 in matching contributions were made to charities on behalf of our employees and retirees.

  • Matching Grants – encourages employee-directed giving by matching employee donations to eligible organizations
  • Dollars For Doers – provides financial support to a community group where an employee actively and regularly volunteers on their own time
  • Pledge Partners – matches gifts raised by employees for nonprofit organizations (e.g., walk-a-thons and races)

When the Eversource Foundation, our employees and retirees come together, they have an incredible impact. Together we contributed $2.6 million to the United Way campaign in 2023, supporting hundreds of nonprofit organizations that assist our community.

Volunteer Spotlight

Our employees demonstrate commitment to our communities every day.

Arianna Baret said “there were so many opportunities to volunteer [at Eversource] and hearing about co-workers volunteering really inspired me.” She has a passion for helping those who need it most. She joined colleagues to volunteer at places like Connecticut Foodshare and St. Elizabeth House, and serves on the board of The Village for Families and Children.
Mike Pierce has always been active with community organizations. After joining Eversource he “saw the opportunity to make a difference on a bigger platform.” He proudly represents us at events like the Boston Pride Parade and Walk for Boston Children’s Hospital. Closer to his heart, he is an avid supporter of William’s Be Yourself Challenge.
Craig Estes is not only a leader at work, but also in the community. As part of our team, he volunteers at the Winter Games for New Hampshire Special Olympics and serves as a captain of our annual United Way Campaign. He deeply appreciates the work of community organizations and in his free time supports The Family Resource Center.

Need Volunteers?

We are always looking for new community partners to support. If your organization needs volunteers for a program or project, please note the following:

  • Must be within the Eversource service territory
  • Must be able to accommodate a minimum of 10 employee volunteers
  • Project request must be hosted during normal business hours, Monday-Friday
  • Ideal projects must fit within the Eversource Foundation mission

If you have any questions or would like to be considered for an Eversource volunteer event, please email us at Volunteer@eversource.com.
