Eversource’s army of line, tree and service crews in the field and system operators behind the scenes are working nonstop to restore power to customers impacted by the blizzard. Despite difficult travel and work conditions, crews are responding to emergency situations and blocked roads while assessing damage and restoring power to customers impacted by the storm as weather conditions safely allow. As of 3 p.m., Eversource has restored power to more than 24,000 customers since the storm began. Approximately 8,700 customers in Connecticut remain without power as a result of the blizzard and crews will stay on the job until service is restored to all affected customers.

As warmer weather arrives in Connecticut and customers start cranking up the air conditioner to beat the heat, a new lower Standard Service supply rate was filed today with Connecticut’s Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) that would go into effect July 1. The new Standard Service rate for residential customers receiving energy supply through Eversource would change from the current 11.19 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) to 9.75 cents per kWh starting July 1. For the typical residential customer using 700 kWh per month, that’s a decrease of approximately $10, or 5%, on their total bill.
