New Hiking Trails Coming Soon Along Lake Lillinonah

Hikers will soon be able to enjoy old growth forest, stone walls and vernal pools on Eversource property along Lake Lillinonah in Bridgewater, Connecticut.

Dedicated to our commitment to environmental stewardship and communities, we've partnering with the Bridgewater Land Trust to open the pristine 80-acre parcel of land for recreational use.

"It's a great opportunity to give back to our customers and communities, while continuing to conserve the property, it's a win-win in our mind" said Gillian Carroll, Land Management Administrator. "We can continue to demonstrate our vision, values and carry out environmental stewardship with the Bridgewater Land Trust."

The land trust is beginning to map and create the trail system in August. They also have plans to work with other conservation organizations to link the network with trails over other adjoining protected properties.

"Not only will the public benefit from passive recreation in a beautiful natural area, but we also know that this land will remain open and unspoiled for at least 10 years and likely much longer," said Julie Stuart, Executive Director of the Bridgewater Land Trust. "We are grateful to Eversource for allowing us to be the long-term stewards of this impressive land."

The land, located south of Tappen Road, is identified by the Northwest Connecticut Land Conservancy as a parcel with high conservation values due to climate resilience, core forest, critical habitat, threatened species and connections between protected areas and forested areas.

Trails are set to open to the public this fall. Maps and information can be found on the Bridgewater Land Trust website.
