Cut and Clear Truck

We used the cut and clear truck to help speed up storm restoration after severe weather in Brentwood, New Hampshire, caused several outages.

What Is A Cut And Clear Truck?

It's a mobile robotic tool designed to be used by any trained employee to safely remove de-energized power lines blocking roadways, allowing lineworkers to focus on restoring power, speeding up storm restoration.

The truck has a 40-foot aerial lift and a cutter head. We operate it from the ground using a remote control. For safety, if the cutter senses voltage, it alerts the operator and halts cutting.

Why Is This Useful?

Normally, downed power lines are dealt with by overhead lineworkers, which pulls them away from other restoration activity.

With the cut and clear truck, we can quickly open up a road and make it safe for traffic, and lineworkers can focus on restoring power.
