Electric Vehicle Home Charging Rebates in Massachusetts

Rebates to help offset the costs for both single-family and multifamily homes.

Effective March 2, 2026, customers receiving an EV Charger and/or Wiring Upgrade rebate will be required to enroll in the Managed Charging program. The program will also transition away from the State Appliance Data Base and launch a new Qualified Product List to verify equipment eligibility under Managed Charging requirements.

Get Started Charging at Home

We provide rebates to offset the cost of the wiring or panel upgrades needed to install a 240-volt outlet for a Level 2 charger.

Level 2 smart chargers can charge your vehicle up to four times faster than a standard charger and can provide enough charge for an average 50-mile commute overnight.

Your charger will also connect to Wi-Fi, giving you more control over your power use, easy access to information about your EV's charge level, and may allow you to participate in our Managed Charging program.

Make sure you buy the right charger

To qualify for our EV charging rebates, and to participate in Managed Charging, you'll need to install a Wi-Fi compatible Level 2 smart charger that is 80 amps or less and is listed on our Qualified Product List.

If your charger is not listed, please complete the application form below to submit your charger information for future consideration.

If you already have a charger

If you already own an eligible EV or EV charger, we still offer a $50 incentive to sign up for the Managed Charging program

Incentive and Rebate Amounts

Rebates are primarily available to offset the cost of wiring or electric panel upgrades needed to power a Level 2 Smart Charger. Income-eligible customers may also qualify for up to 100% off the cost of the charger itself.

Rebate amounts shown reflect the maximum available. The actual rebate amount depends on program eligibility, home type, electricity rate and additional income-based or location-based factors. Rebates will not exceed the amount paid for the upgrade.

Chargers used by one household

Rebate amounts apply to qualifying chargers used by one household only. Even in a duplex or two-to-four building unit, if the charger is not shared this rebate applies.

  • Customers on the standard rate can receive up to $700 towards wiring or panel upgrades
  • Customers on the Discount Rate can receive up to $1,700 total toward wiring or panel upgrades and EV charger cost
  • Customers in environmental justice communities can receive up to $1,000 toward wiring or panel upgrades

Chargers shared by multiple households

Rebate amounts apply to qualifying chargers shared by multiple households in a building of two-to-four units.

  • Customers on the standard rate can receive up to $1,400 toward wiring or panel upgrades
  • Customers on the Discount Rate can receive up to $2,700 total toward wiring or panel upgrades and EV charger cost
  • Customers in environmental justice communities can receive up to $2,000 towards wiring or panel upgrades
