Kings Island

Accessible only by boat, the Kings Island property contains 120 acres of upland forest in the middle of the Connecticut River.

Located in the Connecticut River, Kinds Island is accessible by boat

During the 1800’s, Dewitt Clinton Terry lived on and farmed a large portion of the island. Terry was a member of a religious sect that believed the world was going to end on specific dates.

More than once, the Millerites, as they were known, gathered on the island for the anticipated final day, only to see it come and go without incident. There is still evidence of his farmhouse, barns and stone walls that can be found throughout the island.

An additional 60 acres of RRR-owned land on the Enfield side of the river provides wildlife habitat and boat access. The Kings Island boat launch is located off Parson’s Road.

Across the Connecticut River from the boat launch is the Windsor Locks Canal State Park Trail, in Suffield. The west side of Kings Island is visible from this trail.
