Sample Solar Net Metering Bill
This sample bill for Eversource solar customers in Massachusetts shows how much energy you produced (sent back to the grid) compared to how much energy you consumed from the grid. This is known as net metering.
If you participate in the SMART incentive program your bill will look slightly different. Please view a sample SMART solar bill.

- Payment Due Summary: A negative dollar value for Total Current Charges means your solar energy system produced more electricity than you used this month. The balance forward amount is from the previous month.
- Electric Usage Graph: No bars will show in this graph on the months where your solar energy system produced more electricity than you used. If you produce less electricity than used, this graph shows a positive kWh/Day usage.
- Supply Charge: The supply charge will be zero in months when your solar energy system produced more electricity than you used.
- Delivery Charge: All customers get a delivery charge that covers our cost to read your meters and provide you with a bill. This charge is applied regardless of your solar production or energy usage.

- Payment Due Summary: This box shows a summary of all your charges. The breakdown is below.
- Electric Usage Summary: The Current Usage (-321) reading is used to determine your net metering credit when you produced more electricity (sent to the grid) than you used to power your home.
- Monthly kWh Table: If you see a zero in this summary of your monthly electric usage it means your solar system produced more energy than you used.
- Delivery Charge: All customers get a delivery charge that covers our cost to read your meters and provide you with a bill. This charge is applied regardless of your solar production or energy usage.
- Other Charges or Credits: The amount on the NET MTR CRDT line (-72.10) is calculated by multiplying your Current Usage by the net metering credit value. The Total Current Charges (-$65.10) reflect this net metering credit minus the delivery charge. This credit will be applied toward next month's bill.
