Hingham Electrical Infrastructure Reliability Project
Why Are We Doing This Project?
We are proposing to build a new switching station in Weymouth to support a Hingham Municipal Lighting Plant (HMLP) project that includes constructing an underground electric transmission line and new substation to improve reliability and support the town’s electrification goals.
We are responsible for the construction and operation of the new switching station in Weymouth. HMLP is responsible for the construction and maintenance of the new underground transmission line and construction, maintenance and operation of the new substation in Hingham.
Where Is This Work Being Done?

The proposed switching station site and transmission line work is in an Eversource-owned transmission corridor, containing two overhead electric transmission lines and gravel access roads. The station's proposed location is near the parking lot and driveway for the Connell Memorial rink and pool.
Construction of the new switching station includes upgrading the existing access road and installing new equipment and infrastructure requirements.
