Stamford Gas Reliability Project
Eversource's infrastructure improvements in downtown Stamford began in 2016 and have increased gas supplies and strengthened the reliability of the gas system.
This upgrade work ensures customers have reliable gas service to meet their energy needs, today and for every future moment.
To continue enhancing gas reliability, we have planned more work in the downtown business area. Known as “The City That Works,” Stamford has a robust business community that counts on reliable gas service for its economic growth.
In the second phase of the project, Eversource will continue replacing existing cast iron and bare steel gas main with newer plastic pipe - which is safer, more durable and better able to handle changes in underground temperatures. The new mains allow for higher gas pressures and increased supply to better handle the needs of downtown Stamford.
Eversource has been collaborating with the City of Stamford and the Downtown Special Service District to expedite this project and minimize any disruption that may be experienced by residents, business owners and the general public.
We continue to make a concerted effort to engage town officials, residents and businesses to inform, answer questions, and listen to concerns about the project. Through municipal briefings and community outreach efforts related to the Stamford Gas Reliability Project, our outreach will continue until the project is complete.
