Eversource continues to voluntarily reduce polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) by replacing PCB-contaminated transformers and other oil-filled equipment.
We have undertaken an effort to remove or replace PCB transformers in or near schools, hospitals, multi-family homes, apartment buildings and other high-occupancy buildings. We continue to evaluate and reduce the amount of PCB-filled equipment on our system.
In addition, information regarding an approval through the Utility Solid Waste Activities Group (USWAG) to dispose of PCB remediation waste in appropriate landfills is available on the EPA website.
For information regarding this removal program or the applicability and/or use of the USWAG Approval, contact Amy Voisine-Shea at 860-665-2301.
