Demand Response
Businesses of all sizes can earn money and save energy with our suite of demand response solutions.
Find The Right Solution For You
These solutions reduce your business’s energy use during periods of high or costly demand, with incentives available when you participate in demand response events. Please note, you need to enroll in the program prior to being eligible for incentives.
Eversource's team of demand response experts and trusted partners will work closely with you to find the right plan for your business and facilities - with little or no operational impact.
Daily or Targeted curtailment
We offer two different participation options, which allow you to select the number of events and incentive amounts that work best for you. Daily participants will generally participate in more called events, which means more opportunity for incentives. Targeted participants will likely participate in fewer events and will see less in incentives.
You can see last season's event calendar to learn what to expect in a typical demand response season.
Earning Incentives
After enrolling in the program, you lower your electricity use in response to Eversource calling a peak demand event. Participants must be Eversource customers. The summer event season goes from June 1 to September 30. All events last two-to-three hours and are called between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.
- Daily curtailment participants can earn a $200 incentive per average kW reduction per season. You will participate in between 30 to 60 events.
- Targeted dispatch participants can earn a $45 incentive per average kW reduction per season, as well as a $10 kW bonus averaged across all weekend events. You will participate in between three to eight events.
Peak Demand Events
You will receive notification 24 hours before a peak demand event is called. Notifications can be sent via email, text message and/or phone call depending on your preferences. You will also receive notification when the event is over.
Curtailment Service Providers
Our experts and trusted Curtailment Service Providers (CSPs) can walk you through the ins and outs of demand response and help you find ways to lower energy use that work for your business. You may also qualify for an additional incentive of up to $1,500 if an interval meter needs to be installed in your facility.
CSPs are our trusted partners who provide demand response equipment and services, and in return for their services, you share your incentive payment with them. The split is determined through your negotiations with the CSP.
You do not need a CSP to participate or earn incentives, but their services often reduce operational impacts, provide valuable information about your energy use and manage our requirement of having your site's data streaming to our platform. You can contact our eligible CSPs using the information below to discuss their offerings.
If you would to enroll directly without a CSP, please contact connectedsolutions@eversource.com to learn about your options.
