Concord to Bow (P145) Line Rebuild Project

Why Are We Doing This Project?

Recent inspections and engineering analysis of the P145 and co-located transmission lines revealed that many of the structures are in poor condition due to their age, woodpecker damage, insect damage and pole rot.

The P145 transmission line currently has 165 total structures. Six of those are weathering steel, and the remaining 159 wooden H-frame and monopole structures are being replaced with 154 weathering steel structures of a similar design. Five wooden structures are being removed without a replacement. In addition, the conductor (wire) is being replaced, and fiber optic cable, known as Optical Ground Wire (OPGW), is being installed the entire length of the line.

This maintenance is part of our ongoing investments to deliver reliable energy to our customers and communities.

Where Is The Work Being Done?

This work will take place within the existing right-of-way (power line corridor) of the P145 Line, a 115-kilovolt (kV) transmission line built in 1966 that is 12.5 miles long.
