Brighton Electric Avenue Substation Reliability Project
With the demand for electricity continuing to grow in Allston-Brighton area, Eversource is seeking to build a new substation on Electric Avenue in Brighton to help reliably deliver electricity and increase capacity to our customers.
At the substation site, the project will include the installation of new switchgear, transformers and other equipment to connect the area's 115 kV transmission line to the local 13.8 kV distribution system. Other associated metering, protective relaying and control wiring will be installed at the substation, along with a fence around the substation.
The project will also include the construction of a 115 kV transmission line segment, connecting the new substation to existing infrastructure. New distribution lines in neighboring streets will also be constructed to connect the new substation to four other existing substations. Approximately 30,000 feet of new underground duct banks along 16,500 feet of road will be constructed to house new distribution lines.
Eversource already owns the property at 315 Electric Avenue, and has spent the past two years clearing the site to prepare for the construction of the new substation.
The project is currently awaiting Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities approval with construction beginning approximately a month after the necessary approvals are received.
